🔥 Mentor of the Month – May 2025: Sgt. Shawn Masters 🇺🇸 Help us give a big shoutout to Shawn Masters (Chester Copperpot) — Marine Corps Veteran, former K9 handler, and die-hard supporter of Operation 300 — as our Mentor of the Month! Shawn served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, then spent years working K9 with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. Today, he continues his mission of service through his business, @canineopsdogtraining. After a short break due to work, Shawn jumped right back into Camp Valor, mentoring at multiple camps each year. Whether he’s slicing up perfect ribeyes or cooking his famous open-fire peach & blueberry cobbler, he’s all in — especially when it comes to the kids (even if it means taking a few trampoline park battle wounds along the way 😄). When asked what keeps him coming back, Shawn said: “I got involved with Operation 300 because I believe in honoring the sacrifice of our nation’s heroes by serving the families they left behind. This organization stood out to me for its mission of mentorship, adventure, and healing for children who’ve lost a parent in military service. My personal ties to military service and deep respect for those who serve called me to be part of something meaningful. Being part of Operation 300 has given me a greater sense of purpose. It’s made me a better person — and it’s helped my family better understand my military service as well as the importance of service to others.” Shawn is backed by his wife Colleen and son Jayce, who are all-in on this mission right alongside him.
