The mission of the Institute of Neural Regeneration & Tissue Engineering is primarily to conduct leading scientific research, including research in the fields of neuroscience, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, surgery, oncology, neurology, pharmacology, engineering, physics, stem cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, and mathematics, with the goal of improving the quality of life for millions who suffer from strokes, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases; advance novel capabilities in restoring neural function and provide new understanding of the complexities and fundamental basis of all neural function, from molecular, cellular, and human perspectives.
