“The mission of the ECE Repeater Group is to build and operate a network of amateur radio repeater stations, standing ready to provide emergency and disaster communications to San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties in California. These stations are located on mountaintops, linked together with digital microwave radios, and operate completely independently of all other communications infrastructure. When not being used to provide disaster communications or during drills, the network is available for use by any licensed radio amateur for their non-commercial use."
