Established to promote the legacy of the first African Americans who entered the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1949, at Montford Point Camp, New River, NC The mission of the Montford Point Marines Atlanta Chapter 5 is to honor, educate, and preserve the legacy of the pioneering Montford Point Marines. Through our community engagement initiatives, we actively educate the public about their unparalleled service and sacrifice during challenging times in our nation's history. Our paramount goal is to identify the nearly 17,000 remaining Montford Pointers who have yet to be identified, ensuring they or their families receive the well-deserved Congressional Gold Medal as a symbol of this nations gratitude.
