The Indianapolis Chinese Community Center Inc. (ICCCI) is a not-for-profit community organization registered in the State of Indiana since 1995. It is the largest Chinese American community center in central Indiana, dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and supporting the local Chinese community through educational and cultural programs.
Mission and Core Values
ICCCI's mission is to enhance the social well-being of the Chinese community and all people interested in Chinese culture in Central Indiana. It achieves this by offering highly regarded and inclusive educational, cultural, health, and social programs. The core values of ICCCI include inclusion, involvement, and improvement.
Divisions and Programs
ICCCI operates through two main divisions: the ICCCI Chinese School and the ICCCI Cultural Activity Groups.
-
ICCCI Chinese School: Offers weekly Chinese language and cultural classes, including extracurricular programs such as drawing, martial arts, children’s choir, chess, computer skills, and music lessons. The school enrolls over 300 (or 400) students from diverse backgrounds, serving both adults and school-age children.
-
ICCCI Cultural Activity Groups: These include performance teams like the lion and dragon dance team, Chinese orchestra, and choir. Sports-related activities, such as tennis, Chinese Martial Arts (e.g., Kung Fu), and TaiJi, are also part of these groups. These initiatives play a crucial role in promoting Chinese culture and enriching the local cultural landscape.
Community Engagement
ICCCI actively participates in various local events, including the Indy 500 Parade, the International Festival of Indiana, the Indianapolis Chinese Festival, and the Carmel International Arts Festival. The organization also organizes events like the Indy Chinese New Year Gala, which showcases traditional Chinese performances and cultural activities.
History and Milestones
ICCCI celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025 with a grand Indy Lunar New Year Gala. This event highlighted the organization's commitment to cultural exchange and community engagement, featuring performances such as traditional dances, singing, lion and dragon dances, and Chinese martial arts.
