At last year’s #G20 Summit, the President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) proposed a groundbreaking solution: a dedicated Climate Change Council to accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Although the proposal was not fully elaborated, the Council could be established under the UN to: 🌏 strengthen governance and decision making 🌍 enhance coordination among key actors 🌏 streamline fragmented processes and mechanisms 🌏 raise climate finance In this paper, C2ES VP for International Strategies Kaveh Guilanpour and University of Oxford Professor of Environmental Law Lavanya Rajamani examine this potentially game-changing solution.
