The wildlife has returned and spring babies are here! We are blessed with many different wildlife species in our area. Occasionally, individuals come across a baby bird that has fallen from a nest, a bunch of tiny raccoons in their back yard or an injured animal along a road or near a lake. We receive several calls here at the LAHS from individuals who are seeking assistance with these animals. As our shelter is not licensed to care for wild animals, we are unable to accept them. However, we are fortunate that our state has an amazing Wildlife Rehabilitation Center who can answer any wildlife questions a person may have. In addition, if an animal is injured and needs medical assistance they have a full service veterinary clinic and staff at the ready to help them. Meet Ripley! Ripley is equal parts handsome heartthrob and lovable goof.
