The mission of Bright Star Books, Inc. is to promote a culture of reading by increasing access to and ownership of books for limited-resource children in the Greater Akron region. We aim to do this at the earliest possible age to ensure children grow up habituated to the potential of books as sources of learning and joy.

Books For Children, Literacy - Bright Star Books - Akron, Oh Bright Star Books What We Do BSB collects new and gentlyused childrens books primarily through book drives held throughout Greater Akron communities and redistributes those books through a collection of partnerships with organizations that serve limitedresource children. Who We Are Why We Do It Recent studies have shown that access to books is one of the best predictors of educational attainment. 61 of limitedresource children do not own books something we are trying to change. Bright Star Booksis a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on increasing ownership of books for limitedresourcechildren in Greater Akron.
