Meet Lauren Heyden '25! She will be graduating this May with a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a Trauma Informed Teaching Certificate. 🎓 Why did you decide to go into this field? "My decision to pursue a master’s in education was driven by my desire to improve my teaching and instruction for my students. Teaching is a career in which I desire to be a lifelong learner, one of Mount Marty’s core values, to be relevant and the best educator for my students. I desired to learn more, adapt my teaching and drive my instruction through research-based learning." 💛 Who inspires you? "Dr. McCuin will always be an instructor that inspires, impacts, and encourages me. I can remember when Dr. McCuin joined the Mount Marty staff when I was in my undergraduate program. I had never felt so seen and understood not only as a student but as a person as well. When in classes she seeks to understand and know all her students. She is one of the main reasons I sought my master's through Mount Marty. I knew that any type of degree that she was a part of creating that it would be well worth the money, time, and would greatly change my life for the better!" 🌟 What do you feel was unique about your education? "This major impacted my teaching in an authentic manner. I was searching for a program where the classes and content was going to change the way I taught and impact my ability to be a great educator. This program provided me just that, I dove into my teaching and sought out some of my weaknesses so that I could grow and feel more empowered as an educator." (fb)
