The Alabama Music Educators Association: Advancing music education through professional development, curricular support and advocacy. The AMEA is the largest community of professional music educators in the state. We work to foster a better understanding of music’s important role in development of the whole child. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ASSOCIATION SHALL BE: 1) MUTUAL ASSISTANCE AND THE PROMOTION AND ADVANCEMENT OF MUSIC EDUCATION THROUGH THE SCHOOLS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OR ORGANIZATIONS. 2) TO ENCOURAGE MUSIC ACTIVITIES AMONG THE SCHOOLS OF THE STATE BY MEANS OF FESTIVALS, CLINICS, AND OTHER RELATED EVENTS. 3) TO SECURE GREATER RECOGNITION FOR MUSIC AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM. 4) TO ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF MUSIC OUTLETS IN EACH COMMUNITY THAT WILL PROVIDE POST SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES. 5) TO PROMOTE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AMONG ITS MEMBERS.

Alabama Music Educators Association TheAMEA is the largest community of professional music educators in the state. Membership is open to all public private and postsecondary music educators as well as private teachers. The AMEA works with local administrators and elected officials in Montgomery and beyond to ensure access to the best possible school music programs and advance music education as a profession. We support quality music instruction in Alabama from early childhood through college and we work to foster a better understanding of musics important role in development of the whole child.
