Lance Carter ’25 is a communication studies major with a minor in marketing from Houston, Texas. During his time at Morehouse, Lance immersed himself in opportunities that stretched far beyond the classroom. He served as a Student Career Ambassador, a LYTEhouse peer mentor, and an Office of International Education (OIE) ambassador. His involvement reflected his passion for both service and scholarship, and his curiosity took him across continents, studying abroad in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as well as in Kyoto and Hiroshima, Japan. Lance’s commitment to excellence did not go unnoticed. He earned induction into the Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, graduated cum laude, and was a featured Candle in the Dark scholar-speaker, one of Morehouse’s highest student honors. #2025SeniorProfile 🎓🏠 Unapologetic Excellence: Devontae Patterson ’25 Devontae Patterson ’25 is a communication and theatre & performance major from Houston, Texas. As a distinguished member of both the Morehouse College Theatre Ensemble and the Morehouse College Student Ambassadors, Devontae has made his mark on campus through service, creativity, and leadership. His commitment to excellence has earned him the Martin L. King Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship, multiple appearances on the Dean’s List, Honor Roll recognition, and the honor of graduating cum laude. But his path wasn’t without challenges. Starting college during the height of COVID-19 presented intense isolation. Devontae battled through social anxiety and the pressure to conform. In doing so, he learned to trust his heart, embrace discernment, and remain unapologetically true to himself. Looking ahead, Devontae plans to pursue a master’s degree in Theatre and Communication at either NYU or USC. His long-term dream is to start his own production company and become one of the prominent Black faces in Hollywood.
