Distinguished by its six-year B.A./M.D. program, the UMKC School of Medicine provides and fosters excellence in education, research, and medical care. The mission of the UMKC Research Foundation is to advance research efforts for the University of Missouri Kansas City. The UMKC Research Foundation not only focuses on support for the UMKC Vision Research Center that conducts research on diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration by seeking philanthropic support, but to assist with research endeavors for UMKC. The Vision Research Center at UMKC is the only regional center that combines basic, translational, and clinical research in a concerted effort to target retinal disease.
