Place-based Education is a learning model that engages the local natural and human communities of a place into the life of the school and curriculum. Learning happens by doing, beyond the walls of a traditional classroom and in relationship with the natural world and community partners. Our students thrive on field work opportunities, whether measuring the tides or volunteering at a local farm.

We invite you to apply to our Kindergarten and Pre-K program that serves children ages 4-6 right here in Hancock County. Forest Kindergarten is a widely practiced model in Europe, originating in Scandinavia, where the majority of the learning takes place outdoors in all seasons and in all weather conditions.
