The Leifur Eiriksson Foundation The Leifur Eiriksson Foundation was established in 2001 to fund a graduate fellowship exchange program between Iceland and the United States. Governed by a board of trustees appointed by the Central Bank of Iceland the Icelandic Government and the University of Virginia the Leifur Eiriksson Foundation has an exclusively charitable literary educational and scientific mission. The beneficiaries of Leifur Eiriksson Foundation Fellowships are students from the United States and the Republic of Iceland pursuing scholarly study and research in any discipline and at any accredited institution in the two countries.
