Reclaimed Project
The Reclaimed Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Mississippi. Its mission focuses on partnering with communities to provide sustainable solutions and fill the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly children.
History and Purpose
In 2016, the Reclaimed Project expanded its efforts to the Mississippi Delta region. They identified a critical need for education infrastructure in Quitman County. Specifically, local authorities stressed the shortage of teachers and the necessity for housing to ensure these educators could reside within the district. This led to the renovation of a vacant Masonic Lodge building in Marks, which was transformed into "The Village." This facility now serves as a residence for seven full-time teachers and a venue for community events and spiritual activities.
Programs and Partnerships
The Reclaimed Project emphasizes community engagement and discipleship through strategic partnerships with local organizations. Key partners include the Quitman County School District, various churches, and other community groups like Delta Health Partners and the Marks Project. These collaborations enable them to address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs within the community.
Vision and Goals
The organization's vision is centered on aiding every community in developing plans that uplift and support all children and vulnerable members. They aim to bring healing and life through Christian values, ultimately reflecting "God's Kingdom" in community settings. Their strategy involves initiating healthy community engagement, cultivating a culture of discipleship, and developing sustainable solutions that outlast their direct involvement. This includes investing in public school systems and fostering economic opportunities for lasting impact.
Global Outreach
In addition to its work in Mississippi, the Reclaimed Project also extends its support to vulnerable children in Lesotho, Africa. This international focus highlights their commitment to global outreach and addressing oppression and injustice worldwide.
Fundraising and Support
The Reclaimed Project relies on donations to continue its mission. Notable fundraising efforts include events like the annual Charity Bowl, supported by local chapters of fraternal organizations. The project encourages generosity to help make a difference in the lives of children both domestically and internationally.
