When the staff who inspire you can afford to live in the community where they work, connections like this are possible! When we fully fund the public education profession, it becomes possible for career changers to choose to work in our schools! Add your name to our community petition to call for funding the Board of Education's requests for staffing and salaries: https://secure.ngpvan.com/M2lgsn8_z0aSJPtYmeA0qw2 (fb)

At our community forum last week, we heard from bus drivers about their need for increased salaries and safety. Did you know that our colleagues who drive special needs buses make less than their counterparts who work for outside contractors? Sign our petition to call for full funding of the Board of Education's budget request for staffing and salaries to ensure we continue to fill the much-needed bench of bus drivers: https://secure.ngpvan.com/M2lgsn8_z0aSJPtYmeA0qw2 (fb)

About the organization

Sustain Retain Whether you are a classroom teacher a special educator a counselor a speech language pathologist a psychologist or any of our other Unit 1 employees this is YOUR union. We have opportunities every week for you to speak up and advocate for better working conditions at the bargaining table in your schools and throughout your community. This year through our campaign to make education a sustainable profession for incoming AND veteran educators we are specifically advocating for caps on the number of meetings protection of our planning time and improvements to our leave policy. When it comes to budget priorities our salaries need to be competitive and reflect the realities we are seeing at the grocery store and gas station.
