Queensmill Civic Association

The Queensmill Civic Association is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization located in Midlothian, Virginia. It serves as a community-focused entity for the Queensmill neighborhood, aiming to enhance and preserve the quality of life for its residents.

Purpose and Activities

The association is dedicated to promoting community welfare through various activities and services. It focuses on enforcing neighborhood covenants, maintaining community aesthetics, and organizing social events. The QCA also publishes a monthly newsletter to keep residents informed about local news and upcoming events. Additionally, it oversees the upkeep of neighborhood entrances, including lighting and landscaping.

Governance and Membership

Membership in the Queensmill Civic Association is voluntary and open to all adults residing in the Queensmill subdivision and adjacent areas, provided they pay the annual dues. The association is governed by a board of directors, which includes positions such as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Members in good standing have voting rights at general meetings.

Financial Structure

Annual dues are set at $50 per household, which support the association's activities and operations. Financial decisions, including changes to dues, require approval from the general membership. The association's financial operations are reported annually on Form 990, as required by the IRS for tax-exempt organizations.

Restrictive Covenants

All homes in Queensmill are subject to restrictive covenants, regardless of membership status in the QCA. These covenants aim to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the neighborhood by regulating building designs, residential use, and architectural standards. The QCA is responsible for enforcing these covenants.

Community Engagement

The association fosters a sense of community by organizing social activities and providing opportunities for residents to engage with each other. This includes initiatives to maintain parks and recreational areas, which are shared responsibilities with the Queensmill Recreation Association (QRA). Together, these organizations contribute to making Queensmill a desirable place to live, especially due to its proximity to excellent schools and local amenities.
