Warrior Expeditions Menu Warrior Expeditions is a veteran nonprofit outdoor therapy program that helps veterans transition from their wartime experiences through long distance outdoor expeditions. Earl Shaffer said he was going to walk off the war after returning from World War II and four months later became the first person to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. Sean Gobin after returning home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan thru hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2012 and then founded Warrior Expeditions. Warrior Hike The Warrior Hike Program traverses the 2200 mile Appalachian Trail that crosses 14 states from Georgia to Maine and takes place during the months of March until September.
