Helps Ministries
Helps Ministries is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization based in Asheville, North Carolina. It was founded in 1976 by Rev. David P. DeJong and his wife Esther as Helps International Ministries, Inc. to support other Christian ministries and missionaries by providing practical and technical assistance.
Founding and History
Rev. David P. DeJong, prior to founding Helps, served as a missionary builder with the Africa Evangelical Fellowship for 17 years. During his time in Africa, he often received requests for construction assistance from other missions, but he was not free to work on projects outside his own. Upon returning to the United States in the early 1970s, DeJong founded Helps to fill this need. Initially, the ministry focused on construction and later expanded to include architectural design services. Over the years, the organization has relocated its headquarters twice: first to Harlem, Georgia in 1982, and then back to Asheville, North Carolina in the 1990s.
