Educating and empowering scholars from underrepresented backgrounds to become health professionals and change agents. MERIT educates and empowers students from underrepresented backgrounds to become health professionals and change agents who advance equity. MEDICAL EDUCATION RESOURCES INITIATIVE FOR TEENS (MERIT) EDUCATES AND EMPOWERS STUDENTS FROM UNDERREPRESENTED BACKGROUNDS TO BECOME HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND CHANGE AGENTS WHO ADVANCE EQUITY. Our vision is that tomorrow's health workforce will reflect the diversity of the communities it serves. Throughout high school, MERIT Scholars attend weekly Saturday classes during the school year. Each summer, scholars complete internships in hospitals, laboratories, and community health settings. Each scholar receives individualized college admissions guidance and longitudinal mentoring throughout high school, college, and beyond.
