And they are back! Our Juniors and Senior Interns came back from their three-day Chesapeake Bay Foundation Field Trip to Port Isobel Island🏝! Our students had the opportunity to learn about how advancing technologies have impacted our communities and water. This knowledge was gained through understanding the history of the oyster population, the importance of aquatic habitats and their impacts on other habitats, valuing conservation of resources, and the development of certain aquatic devices, such as crab pots🦀. These ideas were brought to life through multiple hands-on activities, ranging from learning an oyster life cycle dance, to doing a night walk through their woodland habitat, to a marsh walk, to crabbing! Outside of the set activities, the students were given a lot of "green" time (free time) to spend exploring the island through fishing🎣 and canoeing🛶, and bonding inside by playing UNO or cooking with the senior interns who joined the trip! Despite the rain, the group powered through and enjoyed their time on Port Isobel, growing their class bonds even more!
