OATS Director of Special Initiatives, Jeff Rose, contributed to a new report from the Benton Institute for Broadband & Society, "From the Ground Up: Investing in the Human Infrastructure of Broadband.” The report presents recommendations for continued investment in the people and organizations helping individuals access affordable internet, devices, and digital skills to participate in modern society. As part of one of the three working groups consisting of experts from a variety of national nonprofits, Jeff shared current best practices in the field of building digital skills among older adults. Group discussions also focused on the support needed to continue to provide these vital services. Looking beyond the federal initiatives created during the COVID-19 pandemic, the report emphasizes long-term commitments to the "human infrastructure of broadband," with a call to build on the current momentum.
