Visiting Governors Island during Memorial Day Weekend? We've got all the info you need right here! ✔️ Governors Island's summer hours go into effect beginning Friday, May 23 (7AM-10PM Sunday-Thursday / 7AM-11PM Friday-Saturday, South Island Park open until dusk). ✔️ Seasonal weekend Brooklyn ferry service begins this weekend, with ferries running from Red Hook/Atlantic Basin and Brooklyn Bridge Park/Pier 6 in addition to regular service from the Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan and NYC Ferry. ✔️ The #GovIslandArts Organizations in Residence are open this weekend for indoor exploration inside the Island's historic houses. ✔️ Island Oyster & Taco Vista are officially open late starting this weekend. ✔️ Slide Hill is currently closed due to planned maintenance in preparation for the summer months. The Hammock Grove Play Area remains open daily, and the Yard is open weekends. ✔️ The Island is open as usual on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26), with ferries running on a weekend schedule from Manhattan and Brooklyn.
