Our Lady of the Rosary commemorates the Blessed Virgin Mary's role in the development of the prayer of the Rosary. The title was formally established by the Church in the 16th century, particularly in gratitude for Mary’s intercession in the victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, where Christian forces, united in prayer, defeated the Ottoman Empire. In response to this victory, Pope Pius V established the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary to honor Mary’s intercession and to encourage the faithful to pray the Rosary as a powerful tool for peace, conversion, and spiritual strength. Our Lady of Guadalupe refers to the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Juan Diego in 1531 on Tepeyac Hill, near Mexico City. Mary appeared as a mestiza woman, clothed in the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of stars upon her head, offering comfort and a message of love, unity, and hope. She instructed Juan Diego to have a church built in her honor and left an image of herself miraculously imprinted on his tilma (cloak), which has become an enduring symbol of faith, cultural identity, and maternal protection for millions.
