WizChinese

WizChinese is a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status, founded in February 2014 by residents of Palo Alto, California. Its mission is to facilitate the integration of Chinese immigrants with the local community.

Purpose and Activities

The organization aims to serve the Palo Alto Chinese community by providing various programs and resources. It includes initiatives such as the Palo Alto Chinese Parent Club, Mental Health Programs, and Special Projects. These projects help immigrants navigate cultural differences and social challenges, promoting a smoother integration into American society.

Special Projects

  • Welcome to Palo Alto Video: A video that introduces newcomers to Palo Alto's history, distinguished people, traditions, schools, city government, and non-profit organizations, featuring captions in Mandarin.
  • Etiquette Book: A collection of stories and illustrations designed to help Chinese immigrants understand American culture and etiquette.
  • Video Library: A collection of PBS documentaries available for borrowing, covering topics such as American presidents, immigrant stories, and institutions.
  • Journey to Intimacy Workshops: Based on Dr. Huang Weiren's curriculum, these workshops focus on emotional management, interpersonal skills, and effective communication strategies.
