When it comes to disposal controlled substances and prescription medication, you can't just toss them in the trash and call it good. There are steps we need to take to ensure these substances are not scooped out and potentially abused. Thankfully there are several resources available! The link below from Munson Healthcare outlines the best storage practices along with locations for the blue MedSafe disposal bins where you can get rid of medication that is no longer in use. LINK: https://www.munsonhealthcare.org/patients-visitors/medication-safety If you aren't near any of the locations that Munson lists above, that's okay! The below link is a resource from the DEA that allows you to input your Zipcode, or City and State to find the nearest medication disposal drop-off location. As of today, April 2nd, Michigan's updated Child Passenger Safety Laws take effect providing improved precautions to help protect child passengers. Children must be secured in a car seat that is appropriate for their weight and height as indicated by the car seat’s manufacturer. https://youtu.be/2mGdkXOLJS0 These updates state: Infant to two years: A child must be in a rear-facing car seat until they reach the maximum weight or height allowed by the car seat’s manufacturer or the child is 2 years old. Two to five years: The child can then move into a forward-facing car seat until they reach the maximum weight or height allowed by the car seat’s manufacturer or the child is 5 years old. Five to eight years: The child can then move to a belt-positioning booster seat using a lap and shoulder belt until they are 4’ 9” or 8 years old. All children under thirteen years: Children under the age of 13 must ride in the rear seat of a vehicle if the vehicle has one available.
