We are dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Essex County, Virginia To preserve and protect the rich history of the County and by doing so, educate and inform both Essex citizens and visitors through exhibits, displays, programs, publications, and media; to research, collect and care for historic memorabilia from Essex county.The Museum and Historical Society will accomplish this mission by maintaining written and oral histories, researching the County's history and citizens, acquiring objects that are historic either onto themselves or specifically to Essex County and presenting these in exhibits, both in and out of the Museum.
