Last night we celebrated the first recipient of the Friends of the Central Sands – George J Kraft Legacy Scholarship at the UWSP College of Natural Resources. We are honored to support Natalie Emerson’s education as she pursues her passion to conserve and protect water resources. George Kraft along with Bill and Mary Vance were on hand for this special occasion. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide one or more annual financial awards recognizing students committed to the conservation of water natural resources while creating a legacy for all that we have accomplished, supporting students who have a desire to work professionally in the world of water protection and environmental sustainability. Please support this effort to create a lasting legacy. You may do so by donating online here: https://give.uwsp.edu/give-now and in the “Select Designation” box simply enter Friends of the Central Sands. (fb)

Friends of the Central Sands (FOCS) has been working hard to ensure natural resource stewardship throughout Wisconsin’s Central Sands Region. It has been over 10 years of hard work but you have helped to make a real difference! Thank you for all of your support. We would also like to publicly thank George Kraft of the UWSP College of Natural Resources for his lifelong passion and research which supported much of our efforts in our legal fight. To create a long lasting impact we are excited to announce the creation of the Friends of the Central Sands – George J Kraft Legacy Scholarship at the UWSP College of Natural Resources, the purpose of which is to provide one or more annual scholarships recognizing students committed to the conservation of water natural resources while creating a legacy for all that we have accomplished, supporting students who have a desire to work professionally in the world of water protection and environmental sustainability. We have committed to helping raise additional funds so that the scholarship is endowed. To do so means that once the minimum investment amount of $25,000 is achieved the scholarship lives on in perpetuity. Through the generosity of several supporters we have already secured slightly over 50% of this amount! We are excited to announce that Natalie Emerson, a junior in the UWSP College of Natural Resources pursuing her degree in Fisheries and Water Resources, is the scholarship’s first recipient. We are honored to support her education and passion to conserve and protect water resources. Please support this effort to create a lasting legacy. You may do so by donating online here: https://give.uwsp.edu/give-now and in the “Select Designation” box simply enter Friends of the Central Sands. Thank you for you many years of support in protecting what makes the Central Sands region so special. We are excited for these efforts to continue for generations to come ... Congrats Natalie! (fb)

Welcome To Friends of the Central Sands Working to ensure natural resource stewardship throughout the Central Sands Welcome To Friends of the Central Sands Working to ensure natural resource stewardship throughout the Central Sands Social Welcome Since its founding in 2010 the Friends of the Central Sands FOCS has been working hard to ensure natural resource stewardship throughout Wisconsins Central Sands Region. Notably FOCS was instrumental in the fight to preserve our ground water for future generations setting the foundation for legal actions that were affirmed by Wisconsins Supreme Court in the fall of 2021. It is time to reflect on all that we have accomplished and to determine the best way to continue to protect our waters . As a result we are thrilled to announce that we are moving the organization to Wisconsin Lakes.
