Taking Action To Save Sharks | Shark Allies

Dedicated to the protection of the ocean and all its citizens; to inspire communities to get involved and to take action. Shark Allies is a Los Angeles based organization, on a mission to engage the public in the protection of sharks and the ocean realm they live in. SHARK ALLIES SPECIALIZES IN ISSUES THAT IMPACT SHARK POPULATIONS AND SOLUTIONS THAT WILL BRING ABOUT RECOVERY AND PROTECTION OF SHARKS AND THE HABITATS THEY LIVE IN. THIS IS ACHIEVED VIA COLLABORATION WITH MANY NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONSERVATION ORGANIZATIONS AND BY FOSTERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF MANY ADVOCATES AND VOLUNTEERS. MORE THAN 20,000 INDIVIDUALS ARE MEMBERS AND FOLLOWERS OF OUR CAUSE. OUR AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS AIM TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE ROLE OF SHARKS IN THE HEALTH OF THE OCEAN AND ENCOURAGE CONSUMERS TO REDUCE THEIR PURCHASE OF SHARK PRODUCTS. A BIG PART OF THE AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS IS THE CREATION OF VISUAL MEDIA, SUCH AS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNEMENTS AND SHORT DOCUMENTARIES THAT PROMOTE A POSITIVE IMAGE OF SHARKS, T.V. INTERVIEWS, AND MAGAZINE ARTICLES. SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR WE CONDUCT FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCES, WHERE WE BRING DIVERS TOGETHER WITH SHARK EXPERTS AND SCIENTISTS IN SHARK DIVING LOCATIONS. THE LONG-TERM GOAL IS TO RAISE THE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF SHARK CONSERVA

protectsharks Respect protect and take action. Sharks play an important role in some of the key challenges we are facing on planet Earth. Addressing climate change and food security ending harmful fisheries protecting biodiversity ensuring sustainable economies each of these topics is contingent on functioning ocean ecosystems and therefore on healthy shark populations. The question is how can we ensure that there will be a future for sharks a future with sharks.
