Mission Statement:Mutts-n-Stuff is a non-profit pit bull rescue organization located in the St. Louis area. Our primary mission is to identify temperamentally sound pit bulls in local shelters, relocate them to loving foster homes where they receive training, and ultimately place them in responsible forever homes. We also work to rebuild and preserve a positive public image for the American pit bull terrier and pit bull mixes by providing accurate educational materials and information.Our Goals:Our goal is to work with local shelters to increase adoptions of dogs that would otherwise be overlooked. Mutts-n-Stuff is partnering with force-free trainers to teach shelter dogs great leash skills, housetraining, and other special behaviors to attract potential adopters. By partnering with shelters and trainers, our objective is to assist dogs that are hard to place, such as pit bulls or black dogs, in finding loving homes.By utilizing our network of foster homes we integrate the dogs into family situations and teach them foundation manners. We support adoption and fundraising events which promote awareness and education to the public regarding the myths surrounding this amazing breed. Our ultimate goal is to have each of our foster dogs become ambassadors of the pit bull breed.Background:Mutts-n-Stuff was created on August 21, 2000. The founders saw a need to assist shelters with the placements of pit bulls and pit bull mixes. By partnering with local humane societies and animal control facilities, Mutts-n-Stuff has helped to dispel myths about this misunderstood breed. We have been called upon for our experience in working with special needs dogs and dogs that were victims of dog fighting. In 2007, Mutts-n-Stuff evaluated and placed dogs from the Stoddard County, Missouri dog fighting bust and again in 2009, with the Missouri 500 dog fighting bust.
