Advocacy, Information and Referral services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities The Arc of Alabama is an association formed in 1957 by family members and friends of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Today there are over 5,000 members serving in 30 local chapters in Alabama. The primary objective of The Arc of Alabama, Inc. is to secure for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work, play, and work. The Arc of Alabama is further committed to reducing the incidence and limiting the consequence of intellectual and developmental disabilities through education, research, advocacy, and the support of families, friends, and the community.
