Combat Canines the DDoc Foundation

Our mission is simple; help the dogs! How do we do this? There are a variety of ways we can and do help them.Sponsorship: If your dog is sponsored by us, we are available day or night for questions, advice, assistance with veterinary bills, or linking you up with a local trainer if your retiree is having some problems.Care Packages: We send out care packages to Active Duty K-9 teams both in garrison and on deployment.Transportation: Need help getting your retired dog to you? We can help with funding the trip to ensure the reunion goes smoothly!Fundraising: We have an account for the dogs at all times, but sometimes a dog has a sudden, and expensive incident that may exceed our current balance. If this is the case we set up a separate fundraiser just for that dog. All the money from that fundraiser goes directly to that dog and is separate from the main account.Education: We often attend local events and help to educate the public on the benefits and importance of the working dogs not only while serving, but what happens once they are retired. We put special emphasis on Canine Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and how it affects the dogs.

Combat Canines: The DDoc Foundation

Overview Combat Canines: The DDoc Foundation is a US-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting retired Military Working Dogs (MWDs), Contract Working Dogs (CWDs), and Law Enforcement (LE) K-9s. The foundation aims to enhance the post-retirement quality of life for these service animals by addressing their financial, health, and psychological needs.

History and Motivation The foundation was inspired by the experiences of Ddoc, a retired military working dog who served in Afghanistan. Ddoc suffered from Canine Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) after a life-saving act during combat, highlighting the need for specialized support for canine veterans.

Mission The mission of Combat Canines: The DDoc Foundation is to provide comprehensive support to retired working dogs by:

  • Financial Support: Offering financial assistance to help families cope with the medical expenses of retired working dogs, which can include costly vet visits and therapy.
  • Health and Well-being: Facilitating access to trainers, veterinarians, and behaviorists to address health and psychological issues such as C-PTSD.
  • Community Engagement: Raising awareness about canine PTSD and promoting the welfare of retired service dogs.

Impact and Services The foundation helps ensure that retired working dogs are paired with suitable families and receive necessary care. It also educates the public about the needs and requirements for caring for dogs bred for service.

Notable Achievements Combat Canines: The DDoc Foundation plays a vital role in advocating for the recognition and support of canine veterans, contributing to a broader understanding of their sacrifices and needs.
