Recently, CFC CEO Andrew Don and Senior Manager of Financial Tools and Analysis Carolina Park were in Guatemala with Indiana Electric Cooperatives to help bring electricity to the rural village of Palmira. Andrew and Carolina joined 22 Indiana electric cooperative line workers who built new electric infrastructure to connect Palmira with the local electric cooperative, Coopeffa RL Agua Dulce. Through these efforts, nearly 200 homes in the town were electrified for the first time ever. CFC was proud to be the financial partner of this life-changing project. To celebrate this milestone, families from surrounding villages, representatives from Guatemala’s Ministry of Energy, the National Institute of Electrification, the Local Community Council of Rural Development, local electric cooperatives, the Indiana line workers, Indiana Electric Cooperatives' CEO John Cassady, and Andrew and Carolina all came together. It was a moment to acknowledge each other’s hard work, express gratitude and emphasize the importance of keeping the lights on, not just as a convenience, but as a tool for progress and opportunity. Andrew had the honor of cutting the ribbon, marking the official completion of the project. The celebration was filled with joy. Children eagerly broke piñatas, heartfelt speeches were shared and the day ended with food and dancing. #ProjectIndiana (fb)
