(PWA) was established for the purpose of expanding research, education and public awareness to achieve lasting environmental protection in the lands and waters of the Great Bear Rainforest. This region contains a significant portion of the world's remaining intact temperate rainforest and is also home to one of the Earth's most biologically rich, yet fragile coastlines. PWA is committed to defending wildlife and their habitat in this region by supporting collaborative conservation strategies together with local First Nations, communities, scientists and other organizations. We support innovative research, participation in marine planning initiatives, public education, community outreach and awareness work to study and elevate awareness of conservation issues.

❓Could protecting wild salmon be Carney’s next Nation Building Project. 🐟 The First Nations Wild Salmon Alliance, which includes more than 120 First Nations, is calling for a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney over concerns that the federal government might not follow through on its promise to ban open-net salmon farms by 2029, after initially rolling back plans for the ban to be in place by 2025. 📣“We call on Prime Minister Carney to come and meet with us in British Columbia, where we can discuss the rehabilitation and rebuilding of wild salmon of British Columbia as a nation building project,” said Bob Chamberlain, chair of the First Nations Wild Salmon Alliance, at a news conference on Monday.
