Western Collegiate Lacrosse League
The Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) is a collegiate athletic conference that participates in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). The league operates in California, Nevada, and Oregon, and is structured into two divisions: Division I and Division II.
History
The roots of the WCLL date back to the 1959 establishment of the California Lacrosse Association (CLA), which initially included both college and men's club teams in Southern California. By 1979, the need for a collegiate-focused organization led to the reformation of the league. In 1980, the California Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) was formed, which later became the WCLL in 1983.
Structure and Operations
The WCLL is governed by an executive board. The league's teams compete in regional games, with winners advancing to the conference's divisional playoffs. The champions of these playoffs receive automatic bids to the MCLA National Tournament.
