Working with employU since 2020, Aubry has been steadily taking steps on her career journey since high school. After high school, she enrolled in Indian River State College's (@irsctheriver) Project Stage. This is an inclusionary program for students with Autism and other disabilities to earn college certification in a variety of subjects. Aubry chose Child Care as her career path. She has always talked about wanting to become a teacher's aide to help other students with disabilities to get through school like those who helped her. ⁠ ⁠ Now that she has completed all of her coursework, Aubry turned to employU for help finding an On-The-Job Training to complete her observational hours and earn her certification. With help from her Employment Specialist Jeff, Aubry is now working 3 days a week, 8 hours a day at Little Steps. She rotates through all of the classes to experience each age group and their unique needs. With the goal of becoming financially independent, Tyrone came to employU looking for assistance finding a job nearby. Working with his Employment Specialist Pattie, he gained confidence practicing interviews and reviewing possible interview questions. After months of hard work, perseverance, and consistent support, he landed a job as a Team Member at Hardees. His duties include preparing food, switching signage, and taking on other important tasks. ⁠ ⁠ Through every challenge, Tytone kept a positive mindset, inspired by his Buddhist faith. He knows that even through the toughest times, he can grow—just like a lotus blooming through the mud.
