Bringing together singers from all backgrounds, the Community Gospel Choir seeks to build bridges that restore unity to “community.” Through the rich tradition Bringing the community together in song Through our spirited interpretation of the rich tradition of African-American Gospel music we are working to: Break down racial, cultural and economic barriers in the St. Louis community Model community and reconciliation Perform to the highest musical standards to further a knowledge and appreciation of traditional spirituals and contemporary Gospel music Be a gift to the entire community through regular public concerts and participation in community events Our goal is to show audiences how much they have in common. To get them singing. To get them talking. To increase their understanding of themselves and each other. And, most of all, to bring healing to a metropolitan area whose divisions still run deep.
