Archbold was proud to participate in Cairo High School's Industry Signing Day earlier this week. We welcomed Kathryn Payne to the Archbold Team as she signed on to work as a CNA at Archbold Memorial following her graduation. As a participant in the CHS healthcare pathway, Kathryn had the opportunity to obtain her CNA certification while still in high school. Archbold’s Outpatient Surgery Center, now known as the Same Day Surgery Center, opened in May of 1989, thirty-six years ago this month. The addition to John D. Memorial Hospital was built as a freestanding addition to the West Wing. The y-shaped West Wing was built onto the front of the original hospital building in 1958. The center was built in conjunction with the complete renovation of the hospital’s inpatient surgical department. The new outpatient facility featured the addition of three large surgical suites, an endoscopic lab, a dedicated laser and cystoscopy room, as well as exam rooms. The construction of the Outpatient Surgery Center was an investment in the well-being of our community and came in response to the increasing opportunity for same-day surgical procedures. Since the building opened, the frequency of outpatient procedures and different types of procedures offered at Archbold has steadily increased. Today, surgical offerings at Archbold have expanded to include robotic-assisted surgeries that provide patients with higher success rates and faster recoveries.
