Since 1989, Project HOME has been transforming lives in Philadelphia by addressing the root causes of homelessness and poverty. Through permanent supportive housing, healthcare, and education, they provide a safe and empowering place for people to heal and rebuild their lives. At Carversville Farm, we’re proud to support Project HOME by donating over 7,000 dozen organic, pastured eggs and 49,000+ pounds of organic beef, poultry, and veggies in 2024. These donations provide three nutritious meals a day at their six emergency housing sites for individuals coming directly off the streets, as well as supporting their monthly community food pantry and the beloved annual Thanksgiving Turkey Feast. Eggs are the #1 protein most requested by our community kitchen and food pantry partners. That’s why last year, we donated over 760,000 organic, pasture-raised eggs—and we’re working hard to donate even more this year! 🥚💚 To make this happen, we’ve increased our egg-laying flock to 3,000 hens. All of our hens are organic and pasture-raised, roaming freely on our fields to forage a natural diet of bugs, worms, and fresh vegetation. They enjoy plenty of fresh air during the day and cozy, safe mobile chicken houses at night to keep them protected from predators. 🐔 The result? Healthy, stress-free hens that lay nutritious, organic eggs packed with Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Omega 3-fatty acids—and of course, great taste! 🍳 Studies show organic, pastured eggs are not only more nutritious but also taste better than their commercially farmed counterparts.
