Second Leash on Life Inc dba Canine CellMates
Since 2013, Canine CellMates has worked inside the walls of Fulton County Jail, facilitating positive change in incarcerated men utilizing the magic of rescue dogs. In 2021 we launched Beyond the Bars, an out-of-custody program. This intensive, year-long program is for offenders who are released from incarceration and mandated to our rehabilitative program in lieu of further jail or prison time, and is similar to an accountability court. During the intensive phase, they report to our facility 4 half days a week. They work with rescue dogs in a group training environment, participate in the care of the dogs and upkeep of the building, and sit in focused curriculum designed to allow them the opportunity to form new perceptions and empower them to make different kinds of choices.
