July 25, 1936 James Henry “Sham” Hunt — Olympic gold medalist, America’s Cup competitor, and sailing industry legend. 🏅🌊 Son of legendary designer C. Raymond Hunt, Sham followed closely in his father’s wake; they are the second father and son to be inducted into the hall of fame. By 13, he was skippering the family’s 52-ft ketch, Zara. He went on to race in multiple America's Cup trials and he was a crew member along with David Smith for George O’Day when they won a gold medal in the Olympic Games in Rome, Italy in the 5.5 Meter class. 🇺🇸 Explore more: (fb)
