With the passing of Shane Smith, the entire UCP family is left with heavy hearts. Shane was an integral part of UCP for over 30 years, and his presence will be deeply missed. If you spent any time there, you were sure to hear Shane’s infectious laugh, bringing smiles to everyone around. His laughter had a way of lighting up the room, reminding us all of the joy in the little things. Shane had an incredible capacity for love. He loved deeply, and it was clear that those closest to him, from his parents and sisters to his extended family—cousins, nieces, and nephews—held a special place in his heart. He spoke fondly of his friends, the Eagles Lodge family, his passion for music, and, of course, his beloved UCP. Each of these was a cherished part of his life, and he never hesitated to send love and good thoughts to those he cared about. Though Shane had one of the biggest hearts around, he was never one to shy away from letting you know when he wasn’t in the mood for jokes. He was an honest soul, always true to himself. He often referred to himself as a “sweet, innocent angel,” and though his words were gentle, the mischievous grin on his face told a different story—one of playfulness and charm that will never be forgotten. Shane’s legacy is one of kindness, joy, and resilience. He taught us all not to take life for granted and reminded us of the importance of showing love, no matter how big or small. His talent as a musician and his ability to connect with others will be remembered for years to come. Shane’s imprint on UCP and the countless people he touched will forever remain in our hearts.
