This organization supports working families while supporting young children's development. Family child care is the choice of care for working families. A large percentage of children under the age of five are in some type of child care setting. The Virginia Child Care Resource and Referral Services 2006 Annual Report data shows an estimated 800,000 children under the age of 12 with 350,000 being under the age of six of working parents. Collectively, working parents make up an estimated 65 percent of Virginia's workforce. Working Parents rely on reliable child care in order to be dependable and productive employees. Children must have quality child care in order to reach their full potential in school and in life. A qualified child care provider in a safe and stimulating environment are essential to achieving maximum developmental success for Virginia's children.
