Toa Nafasi Project Inc

We envision a world in which every Tanzanian child is provided the chance to receive quality primary education that recognizes and fosters individual talent. Each child is an individual who has diverse aptitudes and different learning styles. Building on this fundamental concept, The Toa Nafasi Project addresses the needs of primary schoolchildren in Tanzania to assess their abilities, cultivate strengths, and resolve weaknesses. We work with teachers, parents, and the community at large to enrich the classroom experience and devise innovative and inspiring teaching methodologies that encourage participation and critical thinking. The goal of The Toa Nafasi Project is to elicit creativity and distinction in academic performance, extracurricular activities, and to provide each child with a chance to excel.

Toa Nafasi Project Inc

Toa Nafasi Project Inc is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that focuses on providing educational support to children with learning disabilities in Tanzanian public primary schools. The organization is headquartered in the United States but operates primarily in Moshi, Tanzania, within the Kilimanjaro region.

Mission and Activities

The Toa Nafasi Project endeavors to create a more inclusive educational environment by assessing and addressing the specific needs of primary school students, particularly those with learning disabilities. It implements holistic methods to cultivate students' strengths and resolve weaknesses, ensuring that each child receives an education tailored to their unique aptitudes and learning styles. The organization works closely with teachers, parents, and the community to develop innovative teaching methodologies that foster participation and critical thinking.

In addition to its educational initiatives, Toa Nafasi trains and employs local women who previously lacked formal education or professional skills. These women are integral to the program, serving as tutors to children with learning disabilities. By empowering these women, the organization not only provides vital support to the children but also offers economic opportunities to an under-employed segment of the population.

Structure and Partnerships

The Toa Nafasi Project operates in partnership with the Tanzanian government, particularly the local education office. This public-private partnership is crucial in ensuring the sustainability and scalability of the program. The organization's management is handled onsite by Tanzanian staff, which reinforces local ownership and community engagement.

Leadership

Sarah Rosenbloom is the founder and director of Toa Nafasi Project Inc. She has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's vision and strategy. The organization's board includes diverse members from various professional backgrounds.

Impact and Growth

Since its inception, the Toa Nafasi Project has expanded significantly, from operating in a single school to multiple schools across different wards in Tanzania. This growth reflects the organization's capacity for scalability and its commitment to providing quality educational opportunities to a broader range of students.

Through its work, the Toa Nafasi Project highlights the importance of addressing individual needs in education and empowering marginalized communities. By providing chances for both children with disabilities and local women, it serves as a model for sustainable development in education.
