Our mission is to help the kids and families who need it most. We raise up our community by transforming the lives of at-risk youth and their caregivers through education, clinical support, residential placement, prevention, community support, and more. Children's Home Association of Illinois is a private, not-for-profit, non-sectarian social service organization with an array of services in three broad categories: live-in care and treatment, education & transition programs, and community-based programs. Established in 1866, our organization is committed to community-based, family-focused programs. We serve nearly 900 children and families each month and operate from 4 locations. We are governed by a 15-member voluntary Board of Trustees. The development/fund-raising "arm" of the agency - the Children's Home Foundation - is lead by a 25-member voluntary Board of Directors We employ over 400 full and part-time staff in the professions of education, social work, psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, nursing, and juvenile justice, as well as a variety of support staff. Additional professional services such as medical, dental, psychological and psychiatric care are sought through community resources. Children's Home is certified by the Illinois State Board of Education; accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc., and also by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; and licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Who knew a pizza roll-up could teach so much. 🍕 At our Academy for Autism, weekly cooking groups serve up more than meals—students build life skills by practicing turn-taking, social language, and following directions with help from visual aids and food reviews. One student swapped a turkey roll-up for a pizza version—and it quickly became a class favorite.
