Sustained by a passion for fiber, Local Cloth is a volunteer-led non-profit network of dedicated to growing the local fiber economy in Western North Carolina and increasing awareness of and access to regional production and artisan practices. To support and sustain the regional fiber and textile arts economy and professions through collaboration, education and innovation. And to grow the fiber economy in the Southern Appalachian region,within 100 miles of the project's Asheville headquarters, focusing on craft artists, fiber animal farmers and small scale fiber mills and processing businesses.

Local Cloth - Home WHO WE ARE Sustained by a passion for fiber Local Cloth is a volunteerled nonprofit network of more than 500 fiber artists farmers smallscale fiber processors educators and fiber enthusiasts dedicated to growing and supporting the fiber economy in Western North Carolina and increasing awareness of and access to regional production and artisan practices. WHAT WE DO Local Cloth supports and sustains our regional fiber and textile arts economy and professions in the Blue Ridge Mountains through collaboration education and innovation. OUR REGION Our Blue Ridge Mountains Fibershed roughly within a 100mile radius of Asheville North Carolina encompasses the rural mountainous region of Western North Carolina parts of Eastern Tennessee and Upstate South Carolina. Our region of Appalachia has a deeply rooted history in handcraft and textiles but also in economic struggle and resilience.
