Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church

Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church was founded on East Third Street in 1873. Over the years, it has evolved with the community, offering various spiritual and social services.

Mission and Activities

It hosts a Traditional Worship Service every Sunday morning, featuring organ, choir, hymns, and preaching by clergy members. Holy Communion is observed on the first Sunday of each month. The church is also involved in initiatives like the "Faith and Health" program, collaborating with local healthcare institutions to enhance community health support.

Community Outreach

Centennial Memorial UMC operates the Centennial Early Learning Center, which provides education for children aged 2-5. The center is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education and offers scholarships to ensure accessibility for all families. Additionally, the church supports incoming refugee families by providing spiritual support, household essentials, and clothing.

Partnerships and Services

The church hosts various worship services and community groups, including the Iglesia Adventista del Septimo Dia Canaan (conducted in Spanish) and the Oasis International Christian Community, which offers services in Russian. These diverse services reflect the church's commitment to serving a multicultural community.

Leadership

As of recent years, the church has been led by Pastor Debra Linton, who has been instrumental in initiating social justice programs and fostering community engagement. Pastor Linton is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary and began her ministry within the United Methodist Church in 2008.
