Volunteer Rescue Squad Members are trained in specialized skills. These are tasks which require training above and beyond the basic search and rescue skills such as first aid cross country navigation wilderness survival emergency driving and small boat handling.

Our Sherp team is positioned quite a ways out in the backcountry, so when a very appreciated lunch arrived, the side dishes needed a little reviving. No worries. Torpedo Ben (callsign 7306) gives a thumb up to a meal warmed up on the box heater of the Sherp.

While we have a large effort dedicated to the fires, other rescue calls continue to come in. Jessie Hennen (callsign 7358) shot this magnificent photo from LA-28 during a response for a distress flare seen on Lake Superior. The call was unfounded, but it was a beautiful night for a boat sortie.
