Dedicated to helping restore peace of mind to heroes by gifting specially trained service dogs. Dogs Helping Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping our wounded heroes and the families of lost heroes in the Kentuckiana area. We provide trained service dogs for injured military veterans and first responders to improve their lives. We acquire our dogs from local shelters and rescue groups. The dogs are then placed in one of two prison programs for basic obedience. The dogs then transition to work with a professional dog trainer to learn the service task needed for their hero. Once a hero is matched with a dog the lessons continue for the hero team over the next 6-9 months.
