The research carried out by Dr. Bundone regards the study, monitoring and conservation of the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus Monachus). Our collaboration started in 2018 with my involvement as a member of Archipelagos, and developed through a variety of art-science related projects. I also composed a participated song inspired by Dr. Bundone’s research, in particular by stories of the field work he has conducted in the specific reproductive habitat that mother seals seek, to give birth and wean their pups: coastal grottos with internal protected beaches. “Monk seal’s home” is written for cello and voice and includes the participation of the public in creating “sea sounds” to accompany the chorus.
